Gold Sponsors of Farndon Soapbox Derby 2025
Ellis & Co Once Again The Gold Sponsor of Farndon Soapbox Derby
FARNDON, UK – With dedicated community spirit and corporate social responsibility, we at Ellis & Co were once again Gold Sponsors for the recently concluded Farndon Soapbox Derby. The highly anticipated event, held on Sunday, the 14th of September, was a resounding success, bringing together thousands of spectators and participants to raise crucial funds for the Hospice of The Good Shepherd and other vital local causes.
Our firm’s deep-seated commitment to the community was evident as attending on behalf of the firm were Directors John Farrell, John Moorhouse and James Ellis, who were accompanied by their families. Their presence underscored the firm’s belief that business is not just about balance sheets and ledgers, but also about building and nurturing relationships. They were also joined by Senior Accountant Leon Stowell and his partner, further demonstrating the firm’s all-encompassing, team-oriented culture. With fantastic food and drinks served by the local village pub, The Hare, our team celebrated the day’s successes whilst showing support to this amazing initiative.
Though the weather did take a turn, the Farndon Soapbox Derby is a cherished annual event, renowned for its exhilarating races, ingenious homemade karts and its unwavering dedication to its community and charity. This year’s event was no exception, as karts running down the steep High Street attracted an unprecedented crowd, all contributing to a greater cause despite the downpour. The palpable energy, laughter and sense of togetherness provided the perfect backdrop for our team to connect with the very community we serve.
Director John Farrell shared his heartfelt sentiments as he mentioned,
“Being a Gold Sponsor for the Farndon Soapbox Derby was a privilege for Ellis & Co. It’s an event that truly captures the essence of our community. It was honestly a wonderful blend of creativity, friendly competition and a profound sense of purpose. We are incredibly proud to support the Hospice of The Good Shepherd, a charity that provides invaluable care and comfort to so many families in our area. The work they do is life-changing, and seeing the community rally together to support them is an inspiring experience. Our firm is built on the foundation of trust and service, and what better way to show that than by actively participating in and contributing to the community that has supported us for so many years.”
The team spent the day witnessing the impressive array of soapbox designs and cheering on the racers. The informal setting allowed them to connect with clients, partners and local businesses in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.
James Ellis, another director, highlighted the personal aspect of the day,
“It was fantastic to see our team members and their families enjoying the day together. Events like this aren’t just about raising money. They’re really about building bonds and creating lasting memories. It’s a powerful reminder that our success as a firm is intertwined with the well-being of our community. Seeing the loved ones of our team enjoying a day out in support of a good cause, is truly rewarding. It strengthens our belief that we are more than just a business. We’re an integral part of this community.”
The success of the soapbox derby is a testament to the power of collective effort, with businesses and individuals uniting for a common good. The funds raised will directly benefit the Hospice of The Good Shepherd, thus enabling them to continue providing compassionate and professional palliative care for people with life-limiting conditions. The hospice’s mission to help people live well to the end of their lives resonates deeply with the values of Ellis & Co, where we aim to help our clients plan for a secure and prosperous future.

We believe that a strong business is one that is deeply rooted in its local area. We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from the community, and we are dedicated to reciprocating that support in meaningful ways.”
At the end of the day, the firm’s participation was more than just a financial contribution. It was a visible declaration of their community-first approach, demonstrating that for us at Ellis & Co., integrity and service are not just business principles, but guiding life values.
