Ellis & Co Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers have expanded their Chester office in Northgate Street by taking on two new members of staff.
Joining the team are Alice Williamson, 21, and Mark Szulczynski, 35.
Alice Williamson, of Wallasey in Wirral, joins the team as a trainee accountant having recently graduated from the University of Chester with a first class honours degree in Accounting and Finance BSc.
Alice’s role largely involves preparing accounts and bookkeeping as she embarks on a three year training period to become a Chartered accountant.
She said: “I think the most enjoyable part of the role for me is putting into practice everything I’ve learnt at university and seeing it being played out in real life situations.
“I think accountancy must be in the genes as my mum used to work in a bank and my dad’s a mathematician so I suppose it follows that I’m good at maths!”
Mark, of Buckley in North Wales, joins Ellis and Co as Payroll Manager.
He is bilingual, speaking fluent English, Polish and German, and holds a masters degree in Political Science and Government from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland, and an Accounting and Finance AAT accounting qualification from West Cheshire College.
His duties include preparing accurate payments and reports, producing payslips and submitting relevant information to HMRC for Ellis & Co’s payroll clients.
“I’m finding handling clients’ problems and sorting out their queries relating to pay roll and financial matters to be the most enjoyable aspects of the role, “said Mark.
“The biggest challenges of the job are providing all the relevant information and reports on time. The greatest difficulties are submitting the right information at the end of the month when there are a lot of time pressures but that all adds to making the job so interesting.”
Robert Ellis, the Director at Ellis & Co, added: “We are thrilled to expand our Chester office with two new members of staff and Alice and Mark are already making a very valuable contribution to the team. We look forward to supporting them in their career progression and training.”
