Nearly 50 entrepreneurs and business owners from Cheshire turned out for the West Cheshire Women’s Business Network summer event at the Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel on Thursday 16th June.

The inspirational Peter Murray, Managing Director of Knutsford-based Pulse of Perfumery (POP), was guest speaker at the popular event and enthused guests with the story of his phenomenal road to success. Together with his partner Melanie Seddon, Peter, who spent 25 years as the sales force behind lingerie outlet La Perla, took the plunge and opened his first perfumery in 2011. The company was last year listed by the Daily Telegraph as one of the top five ‘scent destinations’ in the UK.

Reflecting on the highs and lows of his journey so far, Peter delivered a passionate talk and spoke with refreshing honesty on the many challenges he has faced in starting up his own business. POP has a firm focus on outstanding customer service, with Peter himself always on hand to welcome guests with a glass of fizz and a smile. The store sells only carefully-selected premium, niche and artisan brands and also offers services such as Private Consultations and Perfume Parties.

The Women’s Network, founded in 2013, is a partnership between Ellis & Co Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, Natwest Bank, West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce and Cheshire West and Chester Council. The group hold four events each year, providing an opportunity for local businesswomen to come together, network and meet like-minded people from across the area.

Johanna Holehouse of Natwest said: “The West Cheshire Women’s Network is growing in size and popularity every year and our summer event is testament to that. A real strength of this network is bringing together female entrepreneurs and business owners in an informal way to share experiences, exchange ideas and build long term relationships.

“We were delighted to welcome Peter Murray as guest speaker at the event. Peter is a truly inspirational speaker – his passion shines through and he continuously had our guests roaring with laughter. Pulse of Perfumery is a local business enjoying phenomenal success nationwide.

“Natwest are proud to be a host of the West Cheshire Women’s Business Network.”

The next West Cheshire Women’s Network event will be held on Thursday 8th September from 9.30am – 11am at the Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel. Full details can be found on the West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce events page.
