In order to attract the best people to organisations, you need to understand a company, its culture and strategic goals… step forward David Wilson and Daniel Kaczmarski.

David and Daniel are co-owners of Hybrid Search, a global recruitment consultancy that focuses on senior level roles within engineering led sectors. They specialise in chemicals, construction, manufacturing as well as shipping, trading and distribution.

After working together for several years, David and Daniel saw a gap in the market for a search firm that offered a ‘personable services that delivers results both accurately and efficiently’ and formed Hybrid Search in March 2017.

“Our mission is to offer all of the value of an executive search firm but deliver this service in a modern and personable way,” said David.

“We work with companies across the globe, we proactively headhunt, access and judge behavioural skills and provide the best candidates for the role.”

A typical day for the team of four, who are currently based on Nicholas Street, Chester, includes customer account management – working on particular searches for customers; research, salary surveys and succession planning.

“Along with finding high level talent, we also help companies plan for current projects and future hiring strategy through Hybrid Consultancy,” said David.

“Research is a big part of our business, the research we undertake is essential to companies when making strategic hiring decisions for the future.”

Hybrid Consultancy looks at talent mapping and pipelining services, team and leadership assessments, labour availability, competitor analysis and career transition workshops.

“The most satisfying part of our jobs is seeing repeat business, seeing the customers who are sticking with us,” said David.

“They appreciate the work we are doing for them is making their life's a lot easier.

“The most challenging is mainly the whole recruitment process in general.

“There are so many elements in recruitment, from the variables of working with people to the evolving needs of our clients' businesses,” he added.

The next 12 months certainly look busy for David, Daniel and the team; who are making a move across to a new, larger premises, in the city.

“We are moving to new premises on Lower Watergate Street, we have signed the lease for another three years,” said David.

“We will be growing the team and looking at taking on two more members of staff in this financial year.

“We are also developing some new services, including an interim management practice and further research practices.”

During the initial planning, and set up of the business, David and Daniel were advised and supported by the team at Ellis & Co Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers.

“We’ve been with Ellis & Co since we set up the business, I was referred to the company by a friend,” said David.

“Robert and John Farrell really helped us prior to setting up Hybrid Search.

“For the first six months before setting up the businesses they gave lots of good advice, and we had two or three meetings with them discussing our plans.

“We chose them as our accountants as we have a more personal relationship with them, we would highly recommend them,” he added.

“We know we can pick up the phone and one of the team will help us, or drop an email and they are quick to respond, they are always there to guide us.

“In recruitment it can be a bit stuffy and corporate we are trying to change that; I think that’s why we like Ellis & Co too, as they are very much like us – personal and relaxed.

“It’s a good combination.”
