Two members of the team at Ellis & Co are celebrating after successfully completing two local sporting events.
John Farrell, senior accountant at Ellis & Co Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers; and Glenda Hall, payroll assistant have raised hundreds of pounds for the Hospice of the Good Shepard.
John took part in his first triathlon, the Cheshire Triathlon, on Sunday, May 12; whilst Glenda ran in the Chester Half Marathon on May 19.
Ellis & Co is currently taking part in the hospice’s 30th Anniversary Corporate Challenge, where the team has three months to turn a £50 starter fund into as much money as possible.
“It was tough, but I really enjoyed it,” said John, who completed the 500 metre swim, 21K cycle and 5k run in one hour and 31 minutes.
The Hospice of the Good Shepard provides palliative care for residents of Cheshire West and Chester and Deeside for free.
Less than a third of the annual running costs of £4 million come from government funding, the remainder is generated through fundraising, donations, events and corporate partnerships.
“The atmosphere at the Chester Half Marathon was incredible, this is the third event I have ran, the organisers and the volunteers do a great job,” said Glenda, who ran the 21 kilometre route in two hours and 34 minutes.
“The hospice provides a much needed service in our area, we are both so proud to have been able to raise money for such a worthy cause.
“Thank you to everyone who sponsored us.”
