Nestled in the city centre of Chester is a 1950s style barbershop offering a ‘sanctuary’ to those who visit.
Since opening its doors in 2012 Bromley’s Barbershop has been styling the men of Chester, without the hefty price tag.
Owner Paul Bromley, who picked up his first pair of scissors 26 years ago, has previously worked in London and Melbourne, Australia before settling in Chester which he calls the ‘best city in the UK.’
The barbers, based at 114 Northgate Street offers a true barbershop experience.
“A typical day for me is giving the best haircut I can,” said Paul.
“They say your vibe attracts your tribe and my clients are a great bunch who I consider my friends.”
The barbershop has a 1950s feel, with classic barber chairs, shears and neck dusters.
Paul offers his clients a ‘fuss free’ experience, with no appointment necessary, which he finds is what his clients want.
“Guys don’t really like to make appointments, we’re open five days a week, so sometimes a cut can be on a whim."
Seeing a queue out of the door is not an unusual sight, and during a quieter part of the day you may walk past to hear Paul strumming his guitar.
“My plans for the future are to work hard and stay humble,” said Paul
“And to keep putting food on my family’s table.”
One part of the business that Paul is happy to pass on to the experts is his accounts.
“I’ve been with Ellis & co for the past four years,” said Paul.
“They have always been on the end of the phone and available to help me.
“I can’t praise Robert, Peter, Paul and John and the rest of the team enough.
”I would certainly recommend Ellis & Co, you’re in safe hands from day one!”
