From its humble beginnings in a small shed on a farm, a Tarvin based business has grown into one of the leading fencing suppliers and installers in the North West.

Established in 1990 Ringwood Fencing Ltd supplies, manufactures and installs a vast array of fencing and gates.

It was in 1994 that Ringwood relocated to its new site in Tarvin, Cheshire, which is home to a workshop, warehouse, showroom and retail superstore.

Today, the team of 23 is led by directors Andrew Hughes and Jane Cooke, and boasts some of the most experienced fence installers in the industry.

Andrew joined the team in 1992 as an installer, working on new builds and domestic jobs.

In 1997 he moved into the office as a contracts supervisor, becoming a director in 2000.

“A typical day for me starts in at my desk in the office just after 7am, preparing to brief the relevant fitters for the day ahead,” said Andrew.

“Once they arrive we will run through the details of the jobs ensuring that they have the correct materials and tools to complete the day’s work.

“I then catch up on messages and enquiries before heading out to visit customers for site surveys and check in with new build jobs to liaise with site managers on upcoming work and completion deadlines required,” he added.

“After my visits I return to the office to work on and prepare installation quotes, check stock levels, order materials, and finally liaise with customers over appointments for installation work to be booked in ready to start.”

Ringwood supplies a range of fencing from garden to security; and gates including garden, courtyard and field.

With its own onsite manufacturing facility, complete with bespoke machinery, highly skilled joiners and locally sourced timber; it’s no wonder Ringwood is renowned for being the best in the business.

“We are very proud of our reputation,” said Andrew.

“Our aim for the next 12 months is to maintain and build on the excellent reputation we already have.”

As well as its own manufacturing facility, Ringwood also have an onsite showroom aiming to ‘bring some inspiration to your next garden project’.

The showroom has numerous indoor garden displays, and has more than 50 types of fencing, gates and garden furniture on show.

“The most satisfying thing about my job is customer satisfaction,” said Andrew.

“Knowing they are happy with the overall experience received from Ringwood and the work we have completed.

“And ultimately knowing that from feedback forms sent out that they have recommended us to family and friends for fencing and gates.

“The most challenging aspect for us as a team is managing customer expectation levels and what can be achieved,” he added.

For the past 18 years Ringwood’s accounts and payroll has been undertaken by Chester and Wrexham based Ellis & Co Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers.

“We met Robert in 2001 who worked with us on the Management Buy Out of Ringwood when the previous owner was in the process of emigrating to Canada,” said Andrew.

“Ellis & Co have a good understanding of our business and provide help with business planning, payroll services and proactive advice.

“We would recommend Ellis & Co to anyone looking for an accountant and business advisers.”
