Working hard to protect buildings from fire and weather damage is a dedicated team of experts based in the North West.
Precision Facades Ltd is a specialist facade and cladding sub-contractor, often acting as a main contractor of fabric improvements and fire prevention improvements.
The highly skilled team, led by managing director Steve McGowan, specialises in lightweight steel framing, rainscreen cladding and render systems.
“We deliver projects with an average value of £4 to £6million, working on new builds schemes including hospitals, student accommodation, hotels and commercial buildings,” said Steve.
Established in June 2016, and trading since March 13, 2017, the team at Precision Facades marked its third anniversary with a ‘little celebration in the office’.
“We’ve got a great team here, they are very important, we often organise team away days and get-togethers,” said Steve.
“We employ 30 senior managers including project managers, contracts managers, site managers and quantity surveyors.
“And between 150 and 200 subcontractors across the country who carry out the installation work.”
The highly dedicated and skilled team work on projects up and down the UK.
“Our biggest contract is with the Watkin Jones Group, one of the UK’s leading development companies, and that’s worth £7.2 million,” said Steve.
“We offer support to all our clients from the design to supply, installation and throughout the lifetime of the building with various maintenance and upgrade options.
“The majority of our contracts last between 6-12 months.”
Over half the team spend their time at the businesses head office in Ellesmere Port, the remainder of the team work out on site or visiting sites.
Steve’s main responsibilities are to ensure the smooth running of all projects and to look after the welfare of his team.
“The team are really import here at Precision Facades, we’re all great friends, in fact we are more like a family,” said Steve.
“Many of us have worked together for over 8 years”
Steve admits his best work days include winning big projects and going to site on completing them and seeing how amazing they look.
“It is very satisfying when the handover of a job has been completed,” said Steve.
“The team work so hard from the initial phase of the 2D drawings, to completing the design, it’s wonderful to see a job come together.
“Especially when it is complete on time, to a high quality and on budget.
“The most challenging part of my role is payment terms and clients who don’t work with us to get the jobs built.
“Luckily we don’t have too many of them,” he added.
The business has reported an increase in profits every year since it was established, and it doesn’t look like the team are set for any ‘downtime’ for the year ahead.
“We have three contracts, worth over £6 million, which are all due to be completed in six months’ time,” said Steve.
“So currently we are focusing on getting those finished.
“We will also be looking at stabilising our turnover and providing more training for members of the team.
“We want to make our team the best they can be.”
It was due to the immense growth of the business that Precision Facades moved their accounting services to Ellis & Co Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers.
“We’ve been clients of Ellis & Co for the past 12 months, I moved from my previous accountant due to the growth of the business.
“We needed a larger more professional outfit to look after us.
