Funding and Grants
The Chancellor of The Exchequer unveiled financial measures to help businesses affected by the Coronavirus.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak promised ‘£330bn in loans, £20bn in other aid, a business rates holiday and grants for retailers and pubs’.
As well as funding grants of between £10,000 and £25,000 for small businesses, and a three-month mortgage holiday by mortgage lenders.

The Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme
The Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme is a scheme that can provide facilities of up to £5m for smaller businesses across the UK who are experiencing lost or deferred revenues, leading to disruptions to their cashflow.
CBILS supports a wide range of business finance products, including term loans, overdrafts, invoice finance and asset finance.
The borrower always remains 100% liable for the debt.

The Job Retention Scheme - Furloughing employees
The Job Retention Scheme has been put in place for all UK employers, with a PAYE scheme in place, to access support to pay part of their employees’ salary, this is to safeguard workers from being made redundant.
This applies to employees who have been asked to stop working, but who are being kept on the payroll, otherwise described as “furloughed workers”.
HMRC will reimburse 80% of their wages, up to £2,500 per month.

Sick pay
Normally Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) is paid on the fourth day of absence, however for those self-isolating due to the Coronavirus, you can now claim SSP from day one.
This includes individuals who are caring for people in the same household and are in quarantine.

Self-employed
If you are self-employed (a sole trader or partner in a partnership) and will lose profit due to the coronavirus crisis over the next few months, you may be eligible for the Self-employment Income Support Scheme, which is a taxable grant of up to 80% of your average earnings, up to a maximum of £2,500 per month.
