A further £18.7 million has been invested by the Welsh Government in order to extend the Employer Incentive Scheme until September 30, 2021, which supports businesses recruiting apprentices in Wales.
Businesses will be able to claim up to £4,000 for each new apprentice they hire under the age of 25. This is an increase from the previous £3,000 grant that was on offer.
The following incentives will be available to businesses:
- £4,000 to businesses that are employing a young apprentice for at least 30 hours per week.
- £2,000 for each new under 25 year old apprentice they employ for less than 30 hours a week, which is an increase of £500.
- £2,000 for each new apprentice aged 25 and over they hire on a 30 hour or more contract a week,
- £1,000 incentive for apprentices aged 25 and over working less than 30 hours.
