Join Chester BID Professionals Partnership meeting for the latest on the UK’s economic recovery and the current state of UK board rooms.
This free event will include talks from guest speakers Laura Carstensen from the Appreciate Group and UK economist Liz Martins from HSBC.
Laura, who is one of the UK’s most sought after non-executive directors, is a former partner in City law firm Slaughter and May, a former member and deputy chairman of the UK Competition Commission (now the Competition and Markets Authority) and a former commissioner of the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
Laura will be discussing why boards need to evolve, what she believes a good board now looks like, and giving a few tips for aspirant non-execs or those who need to advise clients on board composition and governance.
Liz, who has spoken at the BID’s previous events, will be providing a detailed update on the economic position for the UK and beyond.
Liz has led HSBC's analysis of the UK economy since 2016, including the key task of navigating the economic landscape following the UK's vote to leave the EU.
This is the third Professionals in Partnership Meeting, hosted by Aaron & Partners Solicitors, to inform and support businesses within the Chester.
Chester BID is a business-led initiative covering a defined area of the city centre, representing over 450 businesses to create an enticing overall visitor experience and ensure continued investment in the city centre.
The BID’s aim is to make Chester a retail, business and leisure destination of choice where people are proud to live, work and visit.
“Chester has a great network of professional services,” said Nick Hodson, deputy chair of Chester BID.
“It’s been a tough year so we wanted to offer our support and guidance to those businesses.
“This is the first time Laura has joined us as a guest speaker will give us an insight into the UK board room and where non-execs can add real value.
“Liz is incredibly professional and fantastic at getting the wider economic picture across using simple language that we can all understand, I’m really looking forward to her predictions for the recovery,” he added.
The event will be held on Monday, May 10 via Zoom from 12 noon – 1pm.
