We are very excited to introduce you to our newest team member, Payroll Officer, Jenny Carvell.
So that you get the opportunity to learn more about Jenny and her role at Ellis & Co., Jenny was kind enough to answer some questions! Take a look below…
A bit about your job
- Could you please tell us about your past experience?
I was the Payroll Manager at an umbrella company for my previous job. I worked there for six years and was given the opportunity to progress through the company. I started on the operations team as a Client Liaison Advisor and then moved across to the payroll department and worked my way up to Payroll Manager.
- Can you describe a typical day at Ellis & Co.?
I have not long started in my position with Ellis & Co and therefore still getting used to understanding what a typical day will consist of. I do expect to be settled within a couple of weeks and prepared for a busy month end!
- Is there one aspect of your work in particular that you most enjoy?
I enjoy the practise of actually processing payroll and the logistics behind ensuring everything is in place for it to run smoothly.
- Before working at Ellis & Co., what was the most unusual or interesting job (accounting or other) you’ve ever had?
The most interesting job I ever had was probably working for Creamfields. I worked the event for 5 years, experiencing different areas of the festival. The first year was working behind the bar, the second was on the gates operating challenge 21 and the final years were working in the cash office. They were really long working days and challenging but it was such a good atmosphere and so much fun.
A bit about you
- Aside from your current role, what would be your dream job?
Other than Beyonce’s backing dancer!... I would probably say working in events. My degree was in Business and Public Relations and I particularly enjoyed the more practical modules such as event management and branding strategies.
- If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would love to visit America, the dream would be to travel different parts of it. Paris is a special place as well, I have been twice and will always want to go back.
- Do you have a hidden talent/ party trick?
I don’t think I do!....
- Have you ever had your 15 minutes of fame?
I once appeared on Don’t Tell The Bride. It wasn’t me getting married though! It was a friend but you see me through the episode at the hen do and the actual wedding!
On behalf of the entire Ellis & Co. team we would like to give a warm welcome to Jenny!
